Split Yoke Motor Technology
Unlike a traditional speaker where the magnet assembly is located on the outside of the voice coil, Rockford has moved the entire structure to the inside of it. With the top plate and magnet components located inside the voice coil, we then use a U-shaped backplate that rises up around the outside of the voice coil assembly. To allow the movement of the voice coil back and forth, we've created a specially designed Split Yoke structure that creates gaps around the perimeter of the assembly. It is through these separations that the connecting ribs of the EVCC pass through from the inner collar to the outer ring. This design allows the speaker to reach high excursion and power handling abilities similar to a standard depth woofer while maintaining an extremely compact mounting depth.">The unique motor structure design allows full excursion capabilities of the woofers voice coil while allowing an overall reduction in woofer mounting depth.
